I won an award!

At the NASHiCS Health and Safety Conference and Safety in Care Awards this week in Eastwood Park, I was surprised, speechless, and overwhelmed when my name was announced as winner of the NASHiCS Award for Championing Safety in Care. Didn’t know I had been nominated; wholly unexpected! Made me immensely proud, happy, and just, well, full of joy!

I am really passionate about what I do - proud to be an Environmental Health Officer and proud to work in the care sector as the Head of Health and Safety for a large, multi-site organisation. I try to give back to the community and help mentor people I have worked with, people I know, and peple I am connected to via LikedIn, particularly thoise at the start of their journey, and those who are from overseas that have been brave enough to travel to Britain for education and a career. I recognise my priviledge and if that makes me woke that is a badge I wear with pride.

As Darren was reading out the citation my mind was wondering who had won; I never thought that it would be me as I did not know who had nominated me. So thankyou to the person(s) who nominated me, the NAHSiCS Executive Team who voted for me, my colleagues in the Care UK H&S Team, and this great professional I am proud to be a member of.
